Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Alfie Devine is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

A report from the Athletic claims that the 18-year-old youngster could be loaned out to a Championship or a League One club.

Devine is highly rated at the North London club and he has a big future ahead of him. However, he is unlikely to get first-team opportunities at Tottenham right now and it makes sense for him to go out on loan and play regular football.

The midfielder has the potential to develop into a quality first-team player for Tottenham in the long run and a loan spell would allow him to continue his development at another club.

Devine will be hoping to force his way into the Tottenham first-team scene in the coming seasons.

The North London giants have a number of quality midfielders at their disposal and it doesn’t make sense for the 18-year-old to stay at Tottenham and play youth football.

The 18-year-old could get starting opportunities at a Championship club and that will only accelerate his development.

Meanwhile, the report from Athletic claims that Tottenham could look to trim the size of the squad this summer. The current squad seems bloated and they should look to get rid of the deadwood and invest in players who can improve their starting eleven.

It has been a disappointing season for them so far and they will be hoping to put together a squad that will help them challenge for the major trophies.
