Denny Hamlin brands Kansas Cup race as 'a fantastic show'
Matthew O'Haren-USA TODAY Sports

NASCAR has one of the best races of the 2024 season at Kansas last Sunday. The race saw over 27 lead changes, multiple cautions and incidents and was filled with entertainment for the fans wo had to wait hours for the race to start due to a rain delay. The highlight of the race was Kyle Larson win over Chris Buescher with just a 0.001s gap.

While talking about the race, Denny Hamlin who led the most laps on Sunday, pointed out that overall AdventHealth 400 was a great show. He pointed out that alongside the Bristol race, Kansas Speedway is now at the top of the great race list of 2024. The JGR driver also highlighted how tire wear yet again the difference maker.

It was a fantastic show. …This is another track now probably our best two races of the year, when it comes to Bristol and Kansas, is two tracks where we wore out the tires. There was guys that were pitting at the end of that race because they were wearing the tires out. Surely to God NASCAR, you’re not thinking of changing the tire when it comes to this because the show is absolutely amazing. Denny Hamlin said via Action Detrimental.

The three times Daytona 500 winner seems to be seeking NASCAR to work on giving similar set of tiers to races in the coming weekends as well. It’s been proven many times that with the right tiers, Next-Gen cars can easily overcome all of it’s drawback on the ovals, especially the short tracks, which has long been a topic of discussion.

Denny Hamlin claims Atlanta wasn’t a great race like Kansas

Before Kansas Speedway, it was Atlanta that made headlines, where Daniel Suarez won the race in a three wide photo finish with Ryan Blaney and Kyle Busch. Hamlin while recalling the finish, highlighted that the unlike at Kansas the finish was very good at Atlanta, but not the race.

Sometimes when people were talking were talking about Atlanta that oh this is the greatest race. No, it had a very good finish. The finish was good. Denny Hamlin said.

The tier wear is something NASCAR should take into account going forward to make racing better and to have situation such as Kansas. If they are able to get the optimal balance with tiers right, Hamlin would be saying very weekend it was an amazing race.
