One of the top-ranked recruits Michigan football signed in the 2024 class was a one-time Purdue commitment and in 2025, the Wolverines are trying to flip another defensive back from Purdue.

Jo’Ziah Edmond who ended up ranked No. 157 overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2024 class, flipped his commitment to Michigan football last cycle. However, he wasn’t ranked that high when it happened. He was just a three-star recruit at the time.

That’s a big difference between him and Tarrion Siegel, who is a Purdue commitment ranked 38th overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Siegel is 6-foot-3, 185 pounds. He also visited Michigan football last weekend.

Michigan football “a threat” to pull off a huge flip

Secondary coach Lamar Morgan has been on him, contacting him daily, and according to Dub Jellison who covers Purdue for Rivals, Michigan is the biggest threat to flip the elite cornerback.

“It’s beginning to look like déjà vu for the Boilermakers. In 2024, JoZiah Edmond was poached by the Wolverines and now the defending national champs are looking to do it for a second-straight year. Tarrion Grant has had several programs come calling since he committed to the Boilermakers, but none is a bigger threat than Michigan.”

The Wolverines have started to build some momentum in the 2025 class. Nate Marshall committed recently and the top-50 overall recruit was a big get for the D-line. Michigan football is expected to land in-state offensive lineman Avery Gach on Friday, but landing Grant down the road would be huge.

It will take more than one unofficial visit to flip Grant. Getting him back for an official visit is essential, but at least Michigan seems to be gaining positive traction.
